Whats the difference between a Diamond Setter & Jeweller? 

​

A Jeweller crafts the metal work of a piece of jewellery.  The piece then gets passed to the Diamond Setter who deals with all the aspects of stone setting.

What exactly is a Diamond Setter and why are they so important?

​

Setters are crucial to maintaining the highest quality finish to a piece of jewellery.  Even if a ring is expertly hand crafted, if it is poorly set, the finished ring will lack symmetry,  stones may be prone to coming loose, and if not regularly checked – lost.

​

The Setters job determines the overall finished quality of any piece of jewellery where stones are used.  From claw, channel, grain setting, pave and micro claw among other types of setting work is undertaken by the Diamond Setter.  It is their job to ensure that stones are set straight, secured correctly and tightly into the ring as to be aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
